Directed by Patricia Ortega
A young Wayuu girl narrowly escapes the massacre of her beach-dwelling community at Bahia Portete in Venezuela and then attempts to rebuild her life in urban Maracaibo. Here she befriends a Castilian girl and learns to overcome differences in language and culture. But will her past eventually catch up to her. Patricia Ortega’s neo-realist film complicates this question by examining how circumstance and fate intertwine, even in the smallest stories. But it proves the resilience is the key to overcoming violence and trauma.
