En La Estancia
Directed by Carlos Armella
Filmmaker Sebastian makes a reverse journey from Mexico City to a mostly abandoned dusty village named La Estancia. Searching for inspiration, and perhaps a better life, he comes across the two sole remaining residents: the aged Don Jesús Vallejo and his son Juan Diego. Fascinated by their isolated lives and Juan Diego’s absolute loneliness, Sebastian starts to film their daily rituals. The improbable but intense friendship that arises is rudely disrupted, when Sebastian returns to the city, although promising to come back. Years later, he keeps his word and brings along his pregnant partner. However, Juan Diego is nowhere to be found; and Sebastian is determined to find his old friend. But what he discovers is truly shocking.
